the 2nd issue I have is I noticed that sometimes when I shutdown my computer from windows 7 64bit it restarts. on next boot up it says overclock failed, press f1 to continue. I have to press and hold the power button to power it down. I just recently noticed sometimes upon cold boot my system hangs, all fans power on but not video output and no boot.

I called as I said tech support and they said CPU is bad or update the BIO. So I guess I'm reaching out to you, the experts for a solution or possibility. Basic stuff I get but some settings their explanations are over my head. Could this be causing the problem? It seems logical to me except BIOS setting for the most part are not my forte. "Overclock Failed" since this isn't a unlocked cpu if the Bios is attempting to overclock it somehow and its not capable of being over clocked. Which takes me back to the error I get during the next post after the red led cpu lock up and subsequent restart. Only thing I can think is its something, some setting in the BIOs that is causing a conflict or error during post.
Just this random Red Led Cpu light that halts to boot. And not a single lock up, error or issue at all. I have had it running overnight, played some high end demanding games.
I mean its random for one, and two this thing rock while running. Which It could be but I have a very hard time believing that's the case. And ASUS phone support wasn't helpful at all insisting its a bad CPU. Tested the PSU voltages (one site suggested not enough power to the cpu) it was fine. Checked to ensure everything is properly connected and seated. Needless to say I have done a lot of troubleshooting using what I have read as a guide.Ĭhecked the cpu was seated right, checked for bent pins. But have yet to find the solution, though many claim to have. I have read a ton about this issue on many forums. Very intermittent and usually only if sometime passes between shut down and restart. I say occasional because its not all the time that this happens. Shuts off restarts, works great except for the occasional red cpu led. Updates windows, plays games, everything works like a dream. Nothing was overclocked that I had set up. Restarted and it went to the bios post message at the bottom said "overclock failed" and that I needed to enter set up.

The pc didn't boot and the red cpu led was on. After updates shut down and a later restart. First boot went to bios setup left at default and booted to windows. Assembled everything and installed windows 8. Along with a new OCZ 550fty PSU, New Case and H80i Water cooler Cooler. So I recently purchased a new Z87-A MB and I5 4670 cpu.
